This section presents a photographic study of the landscape of Belgium and Northern France which I began in 1995. The project covers a strip of landscape from Dixmuide, in Belgium, running south to Verdun, in France. The whole strip of land saw significant fighting in the First World War, and was left devastated by 1918.

The main focus of the project is to show the contemporary landscape and the pattern of redevelopment, restoration, and regrowth since 1918 while also showing the changes that occur to the landscape throughout the extended period, 12 years, of the photographic project.
